Geneva Cumpton Obituary, McDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. — Geneva Cumpton, 78, of Harlem, Georgia, has died following injuries sustained in a two-vehicle head-on collision Monday evening on Highway 221 in McDuffie County.
The fatal crash occurred on Highway 221 at Rachel Road in Dearing, Georgia, prompting a response from emergency personnel and investigators. McDuffie County 911 received reports of the collision at approximately 6:24 p.m. Monday after callers reported a serious crash involving two vehicles.
According to preliminary information from authorities, Cumpton was a passenger in a 2014 Nissan Rogue traveling northbound on Highway 221 when the vehicle crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation.
Investigators said the Nissan Rogue collided head-on with a southbound Nissan Altima traveling on Highway 221. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and brought a large emergency response to the area.
