Joseph Burchfield Obituary, PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. — Joseph Burchfield, 42, of Columbia, Mississippi, has died following a fatal semi-truck crash on Mississippi Highway 43 in Pearl River County on Tuesday afternoon. Burchfield was killed after the commercial truck he was driving left the roadway and overturned, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. Tuesday along State Route 43 in Pearl River County. Authorities said Burchfield was operating a 1998 International semi-truck southbound on the highway when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation.
Following the departure from the highway, the semi-truck overturned, resulting in severe damage to the commercial vehicle. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and located the overturned truck.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Burchfield sustained fatal injuries in the rollover crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released information regarding whether any other individuals were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
