Guerrero Moreno Jr. Obituary, WICHITA, Kan. — Guerrero Moreno Jr., 46, of Kansas, has died following a motorcycle crash Monday night north of Valley Center, leaving his family and community facing another devastating loss two years after the deaths of his wife and teenage son in a separate traffic collision.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) north of Valley Center. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but Moreno suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
Moreno’s passing occurred on the second anniversary of a tragedy that deeply affected his family. On July 27, 2024, his wife, Erin Moreno, a teacher in the Valley Center School District, was killed in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike. The collision also claimed the life of one of the couple’s sons, who was 17 years old at the time.
The loss of Guerrero Moreno Jr. leaves the couple’s two surviving sons, ages 11 and 14, without either parent. Family members, friends, and community members have come together to support the boys as they face another profound loss.
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help with funeral expenses and provide financial support for the children’s immediate needs, future education, and long-term care. The fundraiser highlighted the close bond Moreno shared with his sons, describing them as his greatest pride and joy.
The Moreno family’s series of losses has brought renewed grief to the Valley Center community, where residents have offered support and compassion during this difficult time. Those organizing assistance for the surviving children say contributions will help provide stability as they navigate life after the loss of their father.
Guerrero Moreno Jr.’s memory will remain connected to the love he shared with his family and the impact he had on those around him. The community continues to mourn his passing while standing alongside his children and loved ones, offering condolences and support as they honor his life and legacy.
