Bryan Henrique de Souza de Barros Obituary, OLINDA, Brazil — Bryan Henrique de Souza de Barros, a 7-year-old boy, has died following a drowning incident at a water park pool in Olinda, Brazil, on Saturday, July 25. The young boy was found unconscious in the pool at Olinda Via Park and later pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.
According to reports, Bryan was discovered in the water by a visitor who pulled him from the pool. A firefighter on duty at the park provided first aid before the child was taken to an urgent care unit, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident occurred while Bryan’s mother, Emilly, who is nine weeks pregnant with her second child, had briefly left the pool area to use the restroom. Family members said the tragedy has left them devastated as they mourn the loss of the young boy.
Bryan’s family raised concerns about the pool conditions, claiming that although the water appeared shallow, some areas reached depths of more than 1.6 metres (5 feet 3 inches). They also alleged that there were no signs showing the pool’s depth or restrictions regarding children’s access.
Bryan was remembered by his family as a happy and energetic child who enjoyed spending time with loved ones. His great-uncle, police commissioner José da Silva, said the family was too distressed to speak publicly but expressed that they would seek answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Following the incident, Olinda Via Park announced that it had suspended operations indefinitely. The park said it was providing support to Bryan’s family and cooperating fully with authorities as investigations into the incident continue.
Bryan Henrique de Souza de Barros was laid to rest at Santo Amaro Cemetery in Recife on July 26. His passing has left his family and community mourning the loss of a young life, as they remember him and seek clarity surrounding the circumstances of his death.
