Brian Davis Obituary, EMMETT CHARTER TOWNSHIP Accident Update — A fatal rollover crash on Interstate 94 near M-66 claimed the lives of 41-year-old Brian Davis and an 11-year-old boy Wednesday evening, July 29, while another passenger suffered serious injuries, according to authorities.

Emergency crews responded at approximately 6:42 p.m. after receiving reports of a rollover crash on Interstate 94 near M-66. The initial response involved personnel from the Battle Creek Police Department and Battle Creek Fire Department, who arrived at the scene and discovered that the crash had occurred within Emmett Charter Township.

Authorities said the vehicle involved was severely damaged and contained three occupants. The driver was identified as Brian Davis, 41, of the Battle Creek area. Emergency responders determined that Davis suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining critical injuries. Among them was an 11-year-old boy, who later died despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life. Officials have not yet released the identity of the juvenile victim.

A second passenger, a 50-year-old man, remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities have not provided an update on his current condition.

The Battle Creek Police Department and the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that speed and suspected alcohol consumption may have contributed to the collision, though investigators have not released final conclusions.

The response to the crash involved multiple emergency agencies, including the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority, Battle Creek Police Department, Battle Creek Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance Service. Emergency personnel worked together to provide medical assistance, secure the scene, and begin the investigation.

Authorities expressed condolences to the victims’ loved ones and reminded motorists about the importance of safe driving practices, including avoiding impaired driving, obeying speed limits, and wearing seat belts. The investigation into the fatal Interstate 94 rollover crash remains ongoing, with additional details expected as officials continue reviewing the incident.
