The initial response involved personnel from the Battle Creek Police Department and Battle Creek Fire Department, who arrived at the scene and discovered that the crash had occurred within Emmett Charter Township.
Authorities said the vehicle involved was severely damaged and contained three occupants. The driver was identified as Brian Davis, 41, of the Battle Creek area. Emergency responders determined that Davis suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining critical injuries. Among them was an 11-year-old boy, who later died despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life. Officials have not yet released the identity of the juvenile victim.
A second passenger, a 50-year-old man, remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities have not provided an update on his current condition.
